TRENDS STUDY
A Hyper-Local, Slightly Opinionated Study of Podcast Listening
Lauren Passell and Arielle Nissenblatt have spent the last 10 years doing what they do best: listening to a lot of podcasts, recommending them loudly, helping them grow thoughtfully, evangelizing audio relentlessly, and talking to each other about podcasts basically nonstop.
At On Air Fest, they became our boots-on-the-ground podcast correspondents, quizzing attendees on the important stuff: What are you listening to right now? Which app are you loyal to? What speed are you really listening at? And… are we all pivoting to video now or what?
Not content to stop there, Lauren and Arielle took their questions to the streets, collecting an informal podcast ethnographic study of not just On Air Fest attendees, but regular New Yorkers and their audio habits.
In this session, Lauren and Arielle to dig into what they found—surprising answers, strong opinions, and what it all might mean for the future of audio.
